Which to choose? Alienware vs Asus.

I'm currently having an issue on which gaming laptop I should buy. I am debating on buying an Alienware 18 or an asus but I read so many reviews saying Alienware 18 is worthless and that its just and expencive box. My budget is around 2000 or less and I need to know which asus is better then Alienware 18 or if Alienware is actually not that bad.
