Moving from notebook to desktop

I have been a mobile gamer for quite sometime now. And now that I am settled down, I am thinking to move to desktop for gaming purposes as things are cheaper and easy to replace.
What do you guys think of this Alienware desktop? I am planning to switch the gpu to Geforce 980 TI and sell my Alienware 18 with M290x CF to cover all the costs. The desktop is selling for $850 and the gpu for $650 so for $1500, I will be set for 3-4 years of low-medium gaming. I am also open to custom desktop pc if...
