Student/Engineer needs affordable worksation

So i'm in my final year of college and will be taking my design course starting in the fall and my computer has just about had it. Im looking for something under $1000 or maybe a little over if it is well worth it. The computer needs to have a dedicated graphics card, preferably i7, 12GB+ RAM, blah blah blah. I hear good things about the SSDs but if it is the only storage source it would have to be 500GB+ and for HDDs i would like it to be 7200rpm.

At this point im not really fixated on...
