Very loud static coming from computer speakers (only when plugging into computer)

My speaker produces a REALLY LOUD static noises when I am inserting the audio connector into the laptop.

Just a few things to narrow down the possibilities.

1) Occurs with other computers, but not quite as loud as with my plugged in laptop (battery removed)
2) Does NOT occur with headphones, portable gaming computers
3) I can reproduce it to a smaller degree when i touch the adapter with my finger
4) Once the audio jack is FULLY inserted, the static goes away

Any thoughts?
