Replacing an Alienware 14, for light gaming

I'm replacing an Alienware 14 that I use for general web-browsing, YouTube and NetFlix, and light gaming (WoW, Second Life, ancient stuff like The Sims 2).

I want something quieter than AW 14, and that doesn't heat up the room as much, if possible.

I'm also sick of Dell and particularly of the stupid power-cord issues (claiming that the power adapter that it came with is "unauthorized", the power connector to the motherboard being fragile and feeling like it's about to break off,...
